BMC is seeking a creative leader to be the Director of Digital and Content Strategy and a core member of the senior team in Communications and Marketing. This position reports directly to the VP of Communications and Marketing.

  • Developing and leading digital content and engagement strategies
  • Overseeing multiple high volume, enterprise websites
  • Leading the communication and publishing, for dozens of business entities to meet institutional priority revenue and patient engagement/conversion goals

This is an exceptional opportunity to do innovative work and drive forward BMC's positioning as a leader locally and nationally as a leader in health and racial equity. The director will work directly with clinical chiefs and senior leadership to transform how BMC engages its patient population and community digitally. As director you should have in-depth digital experience and a passion for creating content strategies that come to life across platforms and leverage partnerships. You will lead a six-person team and confidently work hand-in-hand with cross-functional team (brand engagement, corporate communications and creative) to deliver executable strategies and innovative approaches to reach business goals and redefine our audiences' experiences.

Essential Responsibilities / Duties

  • Lead end-to-end content strategy development, building and optimizing multi-channel initiatives
  • Oversees all aspects of BMC's web properties, including strategy, site architecture, user experience, performance and SEO
  • Creating a dynamic website experience for a multi-cultural, multi-lingual audience
  • Oversee an editorial calendar for clinical departments, programs and hospital-wide initiatives to meet institutional priorities
  • Identify gaps in content and recommend new content strategies and topics
  • Collaborate with brand engagement and creative services teams
  • Work with BMC's Managing Editor of HealthCity to grow the publishing site's audience reach and engagement
  • Create digital strategies and tactics
  • Communicates strategy and roadmap to hospital leadership
  • Working knowledge and understanding of social media and how it can interact with/fuel digital experiences
  • Identifies and resolves digital obstacles and gaps that may impair the ability of direct reports and matrixed team members to meet their goals
  • Hire, train, coach, counsel and evaluate performance of team members
    • Measure ROI and KPIs as they relate to reach and task completion, specifically around Specialty referrals
    • Patient digital engagement

    • Residency and staff recruitment
  • Prepare and manage budget


Bachelors in Communications (or related field) is required; Masters preferred

Knowledge And Skills

  • Strong team management and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Willingness to seamlessly work across teams to share ideas, resources and expertise
  • Knowledge of analytics strategies and tools
  • Ability to guide, develop, and motivate team members
  • Solid writing and editing skills Basic understanding of HTML and web publishing
  • Content management systems such as Drupal and Wordpress
