Kolide is an early stage startup focusing on infrastructure, instrumentation, analysis, detection and response. Based on open source software, founded by members of Facebook Security and FireEye, Kolide is uniquely positioned to take a progressive approach to a market ripe for disruption.

About the role

We are looking for a smart, talented, and hardworking Director of Product Marketing to help drive adoption of our Kolide open-source and soon to-be launched paid products.

As the product marketing director you’ll have the following responsibilities: 

  • Positioning / Messaging - You are the expert on Kolide’s users and potential buyers. Working with Kolide’s product organization and our prospects you will define, test, and iterate on the messaging and positioning of our current and upcoming products and our overall brand.  
  • Manage Funnel Architecture - Partner with the CEO to define and build a cohesive multi-product funnel that combines Kolide’s open-source efforts and Facebook’s osquery project to produce obvious paths for Kolide’s target customers to use our SaaS product.
  • Product/Service Launches - Create and execute on go-to-market plans for new products and features, including messaging, community-based advertising tools, and training for sales.
  • Sales/Enablement  - Communicate and train our inside-sales team on the values of our solutions. This includes: white-papers, presentations, battle-cards (and other competitor analysis), case-studies, etc.

Everyday you will:

  • Be part of a continuous feedback loop with the product, engineering and sales teams that simultaneously influence product direction and your marketing positioning and strategy.
  • Build and refine instrumentation at the start of our funnel and mine it for valuable insights and data that become actionable marketing and product strategy.
  • Partner with content providers to generate relevant content for Kolide’s target customers through all of our channels.

To succeed in this role, you will need the following skills and experience:

  • 5+ years in B2B software product marketing.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently within the time and resource constraints of a startup.
  • Direct experience marketing hybrid (high & low-touch selling) B2B SaaS products.
  • Hands-on experience selecting and implementing sales and marketing technology. (This is a blank canvas opportunity. Show us your stack!)
  • Strong analytics and measurement. We make data-driven decisions and this role will, too.
  • Experience with responsible demand generation from open-source software projects.
  • A clear, concise writing style with a demonstrated ability to simplify technical concepts into actionable product benefits.
  • A great communicator with strong presentation and verbal communications skills

Your chances of success in this role dramatically improve with the following skills and experience:

  • Direct experience marketing products to security analysts, IT professionals, software engineers, and/or Mac administrators.
  • Contacts and pre-existing relationships with other SaaS based companies (100 - 3k employees) in the US and abroad.
  • Experience building strategy and iterating credibly interacting with large open-source communities.
  • Experience marketing at large industry events and holding small to medium sized meetups and conferences.
